One that isn't on CD

Does anyone have an electronic version of this album?

My sister got this album when it came out in the late 70s / early 80s. Robert Plant along with Rockpile do a great version of "Little Sister". I was maybe 5 or 6 when Sis-o-Glitz was playing this album the way albums are meant to be played, IMO - over and over and over again. I remember that I really liked the song because I was the little sister in our humble family and how exiciting was it to have a song targeted to me? Never mind that I really didn't understand all the lyrics.

Well, I dated your big sister
And took her to a show
I went for some candy
Along came jim dandy
And they snuck right out of the door

Ev’ry time I see your sister
Well she’s got somebody new
She’s mean and she’s evil
Like that old boll weevil
Guess I’ll try my luck with you

Well, I used to pull your pigtails
And pinch your turned-up nose
But you been a growin’
And baby, it’s been showin’
From your head down to your toes

Little sister, don’t you
Little sister, don’t you
Little sister, don’t you kiss me once or twice
Then say it’s very nice
And then you run

Little sister, don’t you
Do what your big sister done
I got the song stuck in my head so I went hunting online to see if it was available. Unfortunately, this hasn't made it to compact disc.

    Real life is stranger than South Park!
    But I guess this episode would either end with something on the line of the priest-women burned at the stake or a woman elected pope and excommunicating all male priests...

I Miss Rain
As I've mentioned before, I grew up in South Florida where rain every day in the summer is just part of life. I hated it then. I had no vehicle in FL so I had to take Miami Dade public transit all over. I never left without my huge umbrella and a change of shoes. I would always grumble when it rained. Unfriendly loved it. The only thing I loved about it was how it signaled nap time if I was actually at home and not trudging around Dade county avoiding puddles and trying not to get my dry clean only office clothes wet.

One thing I intially noticed about MI weather was the lack of copious rain. We moved to the mitten state in the summer and really didn't any rain. It still annoys UF to no end when cable programming is interrupted for a thunderstorm WARNING.

I didn't miss it at first. I honestly didn't think about until this summer.

It's been a beautifully rainy summer.

I can hear the rain on the roof right now. It's so dark outside it looks like night. I miss this weather. I miss the smell of the air before a storm.

I miss rainbows.

It's sunny again. In the five minutes or so it took me to jot this down the storm passed through leaving me with many memories and a longing for tropical, stormy weather.

Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too?
I first heard about Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper from AnonymousCoworker. You can experience his caffeine laced post here

Then I noticed that BJB over at Fruit Loops and Porn also thought it was blog-worthy

So, I tried it out and thought I'd not like it since I'm more of a Diet Coke or Diet 7-Up gal.

But you know what, it's pretty good. It's all I've bought soda-wise for about a month now.

My orange kitty-boy also thought he'd check it out ...

What's this?

The cherry vanilla makes the outside of the can so much better.

...can't....

...resist...

~~purrrrrr purrrrrrrrr~~

Behold how the Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper exudes a saintly, immaculate, holy light.

Humdrum Humpday
I am the most boring person on earth. I feel that way today. No pity, please. That will just prove I put the *aw* in *yawn*.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Random thoughts and observations while sitting in the dentist's office waiting room:
I never plan well. Three gals ahead of me and I'm ten minutes early. Most interesting thing to read here is Redbook. Great.
That gal's got little rhinestones on her French pedicured toes [young woman in her mid 20s is standing with her back to Glitzy and is wearing short shorts, sandals and a white tee shirt] Is she wearing a bra? [girl turns around to head to a seat] Boy is she NOT wearing a bra. Perhaps headed to a wet t-shirt contest after here?
That was snarky. Well, I'll probably be in hell regardless.
Can't say I blame her. I hate bras. She's kinda lucky. That would hurt.
Maybe you get used to it after a while.
[Gal 2 is sitting to Glitzy's left. She is writing very quickly on something G can't make out]
Wish I had a pen. I left my purse in the car. I could be doodling too. [Glances to the left again] She's writing on the magazine subsrciption inserts. Hmm. Ok. Good ideas need to be remembered.
I did check off that my insurance changed, right? Why hasn't the receptionist called me up for that. Wait, what is my insurance for dental stuff again. [rifles through wallet] No card. Hmm. Do I remember getting a card?
[happens to glance at right bicep] How'd I get a bruise there? Was that there yesterday?
Attention. span. getting. shorter. [sighs and looks over to Gal 3, a pretty Asian woman with short hair who is reading the only copy of Smithsonian magazine.]
Maybe that's her magazine.
Ok Redbook...here I come....
...no, I am not addicted to stress....hmm...don't think I need to read the 'How I became a sex kitten' article [flips to the bulleted tips]...they're suggesting Wild Things as a steamy movie to watch together? Wild Things? Too much plot. Ok, there are some steamy parts but the whole ripping of teeth out with pliers thing would kill it for me...
Wonder if my wisdom tooth will have to come out...
Ok lady..why are you chatting and not looking up my insurance info. Don't I need to fill out paperwork? Time to go up.
[stands at window. Recepto-ditz has her back to Glitzy. There is no bell or buzzer at the window. G waits for maybe 2 minutes before a dental assistant who was standing in front of Recepto-ditz walks over]
"I'm just wondering what insurance you have on file for me"
"Come on in"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So I waited at that desk for another couple of minutes. Recepto-ditz was on what sounded like a personal call. She did help me figure out my insurance. She didn't write it down in my file though. When I got through with my cleaning she asked me what my insurance was.

"That just seems like I looked it up forever ago"

It was 20 minutes ago. 30 minutes at the very most. I wasn't really cranky about it but I was a little surprised. I was further surprised when she started asking me about a crown I needed that I actually got 4 years ago. I was so confused. My dentist gracefully corrected her and I was on my merry way.

Maybe if my attention span was as short, I'd find myself more interesting today.

I offer you more of me
The Stationery Queen had this on her blog on Friday. I decided that I would ahem borrow the template and fill it in ...

10 Years Ago
I was 21 and lived in Opa-Locka, FL. I missed the hijinks my friend Anj I would get into at MDCC. It was summer and I can't remember exactly what was going on. I don't think we had a class together that summer. I think she was getting ready to transfer to FIU and I was probably 'toilling away' (being a slacker) at my work study job at audio visual services. I had been dating Unfriendly for six months and was planning on finishing up community college and transfering in to UNC Chapel Hill the next fall. I wrote copiously in notebooks during that time. I still lived at home and hated every moment of it. I would occaisionally go out to gay clubs with my friend 'Paco' at the time. He was Paco. I was Corazon. Good times.

5 Years Ago
I was 26. I had been at my recruiter-ish type job for a year and was fairly happy there. UF and I had also been in MI for a year. We couldn't really afford our apt for another year (#13 on Plum Hollow Drive). So, we moved to the Ypsi Ghetto - Huron View Apartments near Eastern MI University. We moved on July 4th weekend. I fell down some stairs sneaking my girl kitty in. She was ok. I thought I broke my ankle so I got to go to the emergency room. No break. Just a sprain.

1 Year Ago
UF and I went to the 7th annual Michigan Summer Beer Festival. I read "The Bitch in the House" while hanging out in the shade getting toasted. Afterwards, we went to Cady's for dinner and very tasty chocolate cake and perhaps I had fried cheesecake?

Yesterday
Had very, very tasty cream of mushroom soup from Busch's that didn't agree with me. Missed my strength training class because of it. Felt ok enough to run by Meijer to grab some OJ, syrup, Gatoraid, soy milk and they new Harry Potter. I didn't realize it was going to rain. I had to look around to determine where I parked and when I saw my car, I made break for it and got DRENCHED. I laughed my head off. It was so much fun. I had my gym bag in the car and changed shirts because I had to. Don't think anyone saw me. (JQP - that's about as much as you'll get out of me on this blog unless I do some drunk blogging in the future)

Today
The lottery is up to 145 million. I have a dental check up later on this afternoon and am bored at work. I hate busy work. So, instead, I do this. Heh :)

Tomorrow
Wednesday. I will be donating blood. I have been taking iron supplements over the past couple of days so that I'll be able to. The last time I was a little low on the iron side. My diet usually is enough but I hate being turned away. Someone out there could use my blood to survive. I'll feel tired and odd afterward but that's nothing compared to the good it will do.

5 snacks I enjoy
Seedless grapes - color not important
Chili Cheese Fritos
Peanut Butter Joe Joes from Trader Joes
Ranier cherries
yogurt

5 Bands I know the lyrics of most of their songs
They Might Be Giants
The Monkees
The Who
The Eagles
Pearl Jam

5 things I would do with $100,000,000
Build a couple of dome homes. A summer one near Ann Arbor and a winter one in
North Carolina...probably near Charlotte.

Since I wouldn't be working, I'd spend a lot of time making crafty things, remedying my brown thumb of certain death for all plants and learning new things.

Help UF develop his blacksmithing hobby.

Travel. A lot.

Not worry about the things I currently worry about, only to discover new worries.

5 locations I would like to run away to
France
Belgium
Australia
Scotland
The West coast

5 bad habits I have
I'm messy.
I procrastinate.
I forget to recycle.
I fidget.
I forget to close bottles tightly much to my horrible undoing.

5 things I like doing
People watching

Waking up on weekends before UF, making coffee and watching the Food Network while I caffienate.

Reclining on the couch wrapped in a blanket with both kitties on my lap / legs as I read a good book or leaf throug a magazine.

Wandering into the bead store and getting a great idea for a project.

Trying out new recipes.

5 things I would never wear
Flip flops
Plaid skirts
Saddle shoes
An 'I'm with Stupid' t-shirt
Yellow gold.

5 tv shows I really like
BtVS
Angel
Black Adder (specifically, the season with Miranda Richardson as Queen Elizabeth)
Will & Grace
Invader Zim

5 movies
Singles
Secretary
An Angel At My Table
Tango
À la folie... pas du tout

5 famous people I'd like to meet
Anais Nin
Henry Miller
Jane Austen
Quentin Tarantino
Joss Whedon

(It didn't say they all had to be alive, now did it?)

5 biggest joys at the moment
Unfriendly
Healthy and happy friends and family
My kitties
Metromint water (which they need to bottle in bigger containers. 16.9 fl oz doesn't cut it)
Oui Fm

5 favorite toys
My plush Gir doll.
My new cellphone (Motorola V710)
My mp3 player

umm...I guess I need more toys. Suggestions?

5 people to tag.
No tagging. Instead, everyone should do some sit-ups and back exercises because core strength is important.

Wasting Time With WoW

My Sunday was spent mostly playing this game. I had gone through a spell of being entirely bored by it but then that changed. Whimsy, you use me as your toy.

This is my now level 29 Tauren Druid, Chouette. She is chillin' on a tree branch. She was on her way to kill some Thistlefur Shamans (Shamen?) and Thistlefur Avengers.

I like this particular area of the continent Kalimdor. It's called Ashenvale and looks really pretty.

The trees are really neat and there are little sparkly things that rain from the sky. Perhaps they're pixies? You can see one above Chouette's head in the first picture.

Chouette is a shapeshifter. She turns into a bear or a lion or some kind of aquatic beast. She always looks pretty crabby though. You'd think all her skills would make her cheerier.

She is also a skinner and a leatherworker. She was finally able to make a certain belt thanks to some iron buckles by a chap named Tyrek.

This is Diamanta. She is my level 18 undead priest. What kills me about this character (pun not intended) is that she's all bones except for her boobs. How do undead chicks retain breast tissue? Boggles the mind I tell ya.

The skull and crossbones tank looking habillement is her guild tabbard. Chouette has one too. They belong to a guild called Tainted Legion.

She is also a tailor and enchanter. The enchanting skill is pretty neat. She can disenchant special items, get their magical essence and then add skills to other items. One thing she can do is add 15 health points to a chest piece.

If you actually managed getting through this post and you don't play WoW, I applaud you. If you didn't, I don't blame you. Nope, not at all.

Recap of the Week
Things that happened in the life o' Glitzy for the week:

Monday: Had a good body sculpting class after work. Afterwards, CoffeeGal told me she had found out some folks were going to an offsite meeting regarding her project at resort. She was not included.

Tuesday: Some things were discussed regarding possible reactions to the snubbing. An offsite 'Planning Session' at the mall was then arranged in the name of her project and the one I'm involved in.

Tuesday was also my mom's birthday. She was tickled that so many people remembered and called. My sis made sure to call people to make sure that they called her. Sis-o-Glitz scores 100 gold points.

Wednesday: The offsite meeting planned by CoffeeGal and I involved some retail dollars being spent. Since I am broke, I was fashion consultant and rationalization support.

Anniversary Observed was also supposed to be on Wed. Since UF and I started dating on my birthday 10 years ago, I..ahem...we..picked a date to celebrate. We are celebrating either tomorrow afternoon or tonight but did get each other cards on Wednesday.

We also ended up watching the first season of "The Office" which I borrowed from the library. I am so late (per usual). What a hysterical series!

Thursday: Saw that new neighbors were moving their stuff in when I realized their furniture truck was blocking my parking spot. I think they have (a) kid(s) because I saw a kiddy bicycle. I was so excited for them. New place. New furniture. It smacks of hopeful new beginnings.

Today: UF messaged me this morning with "I FUCKING HATE THIS PLACE" regarding his current place of employment. I'm thinking we might hitting a pub tonight.

Happy weekend everyone!

Break
**updated**

I realized today that I must have inadvertantly deleted the post with my 'Taking a break' sign.

I still feel the blog-block though the blog look is new. I was able to express some creativity with Corel Photo and CSS but I feel wholly uninspired to write. Well, that's only partly true. There's so much craziness going on in my real world about which I could write and write until my nails break off from the typing.

< ! tangent > which would completely suck because they're all even right now.
That's hard to maintain when your job requires you to type ... see ...

< / tangent >

Some bits of inane stuff I've thought to share....

CNfH came in last week with a clear tote bag with a light pink strap.

** **
Showing his sensitive side? I've been wanting to rip on him but then that means I open the door to conversations that just make me want to stab a sharp object like my scissors or a pencil through my hand.

I tried transplanting two houseplants to bigger pots and setting them outside to flourish in the sun instead of being knocked over into the sink by two bad, bad kitties. They're doing WORSE. I have no green thumb. I have the thumb of death. I am apparently the grim reaper to all things with chlorophyll.

I realized that the creepy gym guy probably has a crush on one of the front desk girls because he always seems to be there when she is working and tends not to leave until the gym closes.

Oh, and I had a moment of 'missing the point' when Live8 was on tv and I was at the gym. I happened to notice the Audioslave was on and my only thought as I was pedaling away? "Chris Cornell is pure, undiluted hotness."

Though this picture I found of him is more snicker worthy than wowza worthy. He kinda looks like his making a disapproving face at a young child. Perhaps he has heartburn.

*sigh* <- at how all over the place my brain is today. I do have some stories from my past I might share should my brain move into a more structrued zone where I can crank out some mean memoir. And now that I own a camera phone, I sense some heavy random pictures coming. Glitzy + camera phone = wtf?!?. **I ripped on him earlier today (7/13). I am the FIRST ONE to rip on him. He had been worried about being teased since he brought the bag in last week.

It's Poll Time!

What do you think of the layout?
It makes me want a mocha and ladyfingers or tiramisu.
Excellent! Much better than the last one.
"I miss you cupcake" I miss Gir but I'll live.
Great but you should add features (Please comment on what features should be addded) .
I hate it.
It's nice but it's boring.
I have another opinion not listed here and will leave you lots of comments.
